I was born in Minot, and except for 6 years I have been a lifelong resident of North Dakota. I reside on the outskirts of Minot and have for the last 25 years.I was married on June 30,1979 in Max,ND and we just celebrated our 29th anniversary.We have 4 boys, 3 who live in North Dakota and 1 in Nevada.We have seven grandchildren who light up our eyes everytime we get to see them.

There are so many topics that need to be discussed and resolved in North Dakota.I cannot wait to see you on the campaign trail and visit with as many as possible.

ND State Budget: Education (K-12)

DuWayne Hendrickson's Position: Greatly Increase

"These are my ideas on K-12 education. First off, I would like to see a pay increase for all teachers.Most of these educators dedicate their lives to teaching our kids, and do a very excellent job of it.I know how much my ND education helped me in life.I would like to see a uniform pay increase for all teachers and administrators. I would like to see the technological side of education expand to a greater level,as that is where the future will lie in not to many years. We have the best educated students in the US and to this we must congratulate our teachers."

ND State Budget: Environment

DuWayne Hendrickson's Position: Greatly Increase

"On the position of the enviroment I believe we have to look at his very hard. One of the major things I see a problem with is going to be water. We already see what is happening in Georgia with a water shortage..We have to have plans put together so that this will not happen. At some point and time I can see regulation for carbon emissions,etc to be greatly increased which can affect ND because of its valuable power plants..We have to do everything possible so we dont leave a major problem for the next generation to fix."

ND State Budget: Higher Education

DuWayne Hendrickson's Position: Slightly Increase

"As stated before education is a big deal for me.Once again it is the quality of teachers we have. That is why our students are in demand all over the US. I will always do whatever can be done for education. IT is one of ND best assets."

ND Statewide Surplus

DuWayne Hendrickson's Position:

"I think our state surplus should be spent on ND. THere is many things that can be done with this money to more than generate a very profitable return to ND.As soon as I find someone to help me draft an inititave, I will also be putting something on the ballot for ND citizens to vote on.ND is missing out by not using this surplus to broaden its horizons.."

ND State Budget: Transportation and Highway Infrastucture

DuWayne Hendrickson's Position: Maintain Status

"Once again I think we have to do whatever possible,within reason to maintain quality roads in ND.They are the lifeline for farmers,industry, commuters and tourists.The lack of good roads in any state is a detriment to that state."

Taxation of Internet Sales

DuWayne Hendrickson's Position: Support Implementing

"ND is losing big bucks by not taxing internet sales. I believe that in the future the federal government will pass this legislation requiring sales tax on all internet sales."

Death Penalty

DuWayne Hendrickson's Position: Support

"I do believe in the death penalty. "

End parole for repeat violent offenders.

DuWayne Hendrickson's Position: Support

"Absolutly"

Implement penalties other than incarceration for certain non-violent offenders

"I believe that this should be implemented. Anyway we can save money should be thoroughly looked at.THe cost of housing prisoners is very costly, and that could be saved by a using a GPS monitor etc. This type of reform would also save on building a new correctional facilty."

Increase funds for hiring additional teachers

DuWayne Hendrickson's Position: Support

"Once again, anything to do with education, within reason is a win-win for ND."

Increase state funds for construction of state prisons and hiring of additional prison staff.

DuWayne Hendrickson's Position: Do Not Support

"Construction of a new state prison,not a chance... Remodel old state prison. You may have a chance.I would support increased funds for hiring additional prison staff. Once again these people have a hard job and they are trying to make sure that we the public are safe."

Support hemp production in North Dakota

DuWayne Hendrickson's Position: Support

"WHat are we waiting for. At some point and time this will also become a renewable energy.There are so many products on the market using this product and ND and its entrepeneurs are losing money by not allowing it."

Legalization of Hemp

"Absolutly. Just another opportunity for the ND farmer.JUst like lentils or peas or any other specialty crop."

"I do not support term linits for US Congess.IT sometimes takes 6 years or more to get established and work your way up the ladder so that you will be in a position to help ND."

"Once again, I do beleieve in merit pay, also in a tenure bonus system for teachers."

Allow doctors to prescribe marijuana to their patients for medicinal purposes
