I've decided to run for the Republican nomination for Governor of North Dakota. While our current governor, John Hoeven, has been doing an adequate job in his position, I feel our state has lost its vision as a unified conservative entity. I believe the reason for this is the perception of Republicans/conservatives as stubborn old-timers that are afraid of change, when quite the opposite is true: True conservatives, like me, believe in a Federal government limited only to the powers it is granted in the Constitution and subsequent amendments, which leaves each state and its population, via popular vote, responsible for "conducting its own business", so to speak. That means that issues that deeply divide our great country on a national level should be decided on a more local level, as the Framers, our Founding Fathers, intended. Not all conservatives have to be middle-aged. I am, in fact, quite young for the political arena. My goal is to show that conservatism doesn't mean anti-this-or-that, but the very opposite: Conservatism is about retaining the people's freedom to choose. My goal in seeking the governorship of North Dakota is to unite the "left" and "right" of our state. The most important uniting issue of our state is tolerance of others, due to our early history of immigration and integration. To be divisive is to lose our state's identity.
