Q & A
The following is a list of questions submitted to Tim Mathern
through DakotaPolitics.com:
"
( from: Leo Gross): Tim, Congrats. on running.
I'd vote for you, but I live in CO and am loving it.
You would do such a wonderful job as governor. Send me your snail mail address, and (if it's legal), I should be able to afford to send you a small contribution.
Leo "Tim Mathern's Response "Leo. Glad to hear things are working out for you. Tim
Mathern for Governor, Box 411, Fargo ND 58107"
"
( from: Mike): pls consider filling out the candidate survey on www.americasperfectcandidate.com to offset the Hoeven survey that will be shown on 01/13/08 at 12PM EST...thx.....Mike "Tim Mathern's Response "Mike, I will check it out, did not hear about this option before. Tim
Mathern for Governor
Box 411
Fargo ND 58107

"
( from: brother Jerry): When you get to be govenor will you still have time to come thru Edgeley to visit family and friends?
"Tim Mathern's Response "Hey Jerry, I thinkwe ought to move the capital to the Edgeley seed plant!"
"
( from: Sara Hamlen): Go Tim! How is health care shaping up out there? I recommend you reach out to Boston health care leaders, especially Jack Connors, Jr., (Chairman of Partners Health Care & MGH-related hospitals) at The Connors Family Office, 200 Clarendon St., 60th Floor, Boston MA 02116
(617-369-3500) "Tim Mathern's Response "Great idea-I even know my way around as I went to Harvard, graduated in 2000.
We have great challenges, rural facilities closing, number of unisured people going up. Governor takes a hands off approach and things get worse.
I believe we need to get many more people binto the receiving and paying system.

( from: Julie Arneson): I hope you are getting out and speaking to people. I do not see you much on the evening news discussing your views. Could you do an appearance on Prairie Pulse on PBS? That is a generous format.
Are you out campaigning? Where and when?
Are you having a website? That is a good low cost way to reach voters.
I agree with you about wind energy. I fear we are giving away our potential to California, with no compensation. We need to develop our wind power and keep the profits in ND to promote jobs/ programs.
You can't win against Hoeven, without getting your message out on the evening news, and in the press. I do not find your views very often. For $99 you can advertise across ND, let people know what you think. A lot of us read the classifieds!
There are many shopper pages too, and many of the folks who care enough to vote read those as well.
Best wishes,
Julie Arneson "Tim Mathern's Response "Thank you for your interest. I am out every day. Unfortunately I can't control what is covered.
I had debate this week and will have a few more. I hope they are covered in your territory.

( from: gene larson): Yo, Tim Mathern, I'd like to know what you are going to do about restoring our (US) constitution. Also, are there any measures that you can take to legislate sharing of income from the Bakken Shield formation oil find as the Alakans did with their oil? Why should the already rich be the only ones to benefit from this great North Dakota natural resource. I live at the bottom of the economic milieu and I'm tired of working for peanuts and getting nowhere. I wrote to the ND Legislative Council abput the oil when it was first announced on Coast to Coast AM, but got no reply, as expected.
"Tim Mathern's Response "There are too many people working at too low a salary. It is the number 1 reason people move away. When we work on economic development incentives we need to target family wages not low wages.

"Tim Mathern's Response "I believe the taxes that come in from oil activity should be used to repair the damage caused by oil activity and to help every citizen in North Dakota. Senator Tim Mathern"

( from: Barbara Nolden): I don't have a question, just a comment: I am currently in Minnesota going to college. I will be back to North Dakota in December. I wish you the best and too bad I can't vote out there this election. It's about time we had a Democrat for Governor again.
We need to harness more of our state's resources: wind, petroleum and natural gas to name a few.
Good Luck. I hope I can come back to a "new" governor in Bismarck.
Sincerely,
Barb Nolden "Tim Mathern's Response "Thank you for the note and for your interest in North Dakota. Move back and help us turn this state around! Senator Tim Mathern"
