Tom Seymour, Ph.D. Office: Old Main 302F, Minot State University, Minot, ND 58707 Dr. Tom Seymour has been appointed by Dr. JoAnn Linrud to Chair the Business Information Technology Department for 2007-2009. Tom is married to Anita (Vick) Seymour, who teaches at Bell School. Their son, Dan, lives in Fargo and his daughter Jenny Seymour Huschka lives in Woodbury. Dr. Seymour graduated from Mayville (BS), UND (MA), and Colorado State University (PhD). He came to Minot State University from Murray, Kentucky after teaching in 7 states. He is a native of Cavalier, North Dakota. He has given over 150 Computer / E-Commerce presentations in 41 states and 10 foreign countries. Dr. Seymour teaches technology classes in the classroom and via the Internet. Tom is a HLC/ NCA peer reviewer and has reviewed in 19 states including Singapore, Mexico and China. His publication record includes publishing over 80 articles in refereed journals and editing many proceedings and college textbooks. For five years Tom wrote an Internet column for the Minot Daily News and he is past-president of the Minot State faculty senate and the North Dakota Council of College Faculties, where he led a successful initiative to place a faculty member on the North Dakota Board of Higher Education. The Minot Chamber of Commerce awarded the Distinguished Professor Award to Professor Seymour in 1989; he is a Peer Reviewer and Team Chair for the North Central Association/Higher Learning Commission, past-president of the International Association for Computer Information Systems, past-president of the Scenic City Kiwanis Club, and a member of the SRT Communications, Inc. Board of Directors. Tom is a member of the Burdick Job Corps Community Relations Committee and a member of the Minot Area Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Council. Tom was elected to the North Dakota State Senate, District 5, Minot on November 5, 2002 and on November 7, 2006. This past year Tom was given special recognition by being awarded a child advocacy award from the NDAEYC based on his legislative work and was recognized by the Higher Learning Commission with a Peer Reviewer Award. Senator Seymour has served on the Appropriations, Agriculture, Education and Finance and Tax Committees during the regular sessions and in the Interim has served on the Education, Technology, and Transportation committees.
